Once upon a time, there was a famous restaurant called Teh-O Si on a red little sunny tropical island. Many people loved to patronize the restaurant because of the alternative cuisines the restaurant offered.
One day, however, the Kia-Su Restaurant Association decided to gazette Teh-O Si as a vegetarian restaurant. This action baffled the regulars of Teh-O Si for it may potentially limit the kind of cuisine Teh-O Si can offer, and lead to a loss of revenue from the meat-loving population.
So the people decided to ask what the main considerations are for Kia-Su's decision. And Kia-Su replied:
Teh-O Si is not just a venue that simply hosts dinners and galas by individuals, says Kia-Su.
He adds that All Good Chefs has advised the Restaurant Association that Teh-O Si is a vegetarian restaurant within the meaning of the provisions of the Cooking Guide.
[...]
Kia-Su explained that the restaurant offers lunch and dinner for dinning in, and also do catering for external parties.
Kia-Su assured everyone that declaring Teh-O Si as a vegetarian restaurant will not impede its freedom to cook food.
Kia-Su said: "It has no impact on any activity Teh-O Si wishes to do and that is critical. So whatever diners may think, look at what the consequences are. The consequences are.....Teh-O Si cannot serve foreign customers and receive anonymous tips of over S$5."
Unfortunately, the question remains, and the customers never really know why Teh-O Si is considered a vegetarian restaurant.
